When you come to Tabor you are going to have the benefit of in your first year as a freshman, join the Ed 100 class. And a big part of it is actually going into schools, public schools, and Christian schools, to see how you like the feel of it. You know, being in education, whether it's elementary, secondary, you get those hours right from the start.
When you come into Tabor, we have tried to mimic the classrooms to real-life classrooms out there. You actually going to be really hands-on. All our furniture is going to be actual movable furniture like in the classroom that allows a collaborative work, which is a big piece of the education here in Tabor.
If you're interested in teaching in a Christian school, we have an ACSI accreditation, which means that you'd be qualified and you'd have the certification to teach in a Christian school. You would go through all the qualifications like doing observations in a Christian school and incorporating biblical principles into your lesson plans.
When you come into Tabor College and education program. We are preparing you for the Kansas teaching licensure. Part of getting the licensure is taking your Praxis content examinations, and also completing a four-year degree teaching program at a four-year college.
Since I'm an elementary education major, there are just a lot of different opportunities to get involved outside of the classroom. Specifically, we go on field trips, whether that's in Wichita or Newton, you have experiences to just bond together as a class but also pick up some skills and see just some things that you could potentially do as a teacher in the future.
